I call these my 'pumpkin heads'! I found one just like this at a yard sale a couple months ago. When I saw it I knew I had to have it! I was certain the woman would ask some high price for it....like $20, but when I approached her and asked her what she wanted for her pumpkin she said..."oh, how about a dollar?". Before anyone overheard her price I said YES and snatched it up. I took him home and dissected him to make the pattern. Its not in a book. It was very OLD. You could see that no one used a ruler or rotary cutter for the orig
Here are a few of my pin cushions that I made. The Bridal dress form is made from the sleeve of my daughters wedding dress. The back has the buttons on it. It took longer to make than the little flower pot ones They were all fun to do....I just wanna keep them all. The ice cream cone is Boopers! The blue one....the pink one is mine. They only cost 55 cents for the cones......love the Good Will!
Here is Jim's latest......I really like this one! (mission). It takes less time for this than the ladders! Hard to believe.......The other is even less time but I just like that mission style...
60x24" solid oak ladder holds several quilts. Mortised rungs. But Jim refuses to make me one.........say's I have to much stuff and no place to put it! LOL....Well I guess I better sell that antique settee......
These are very old UFOs! Pillow covers that I hand quilted a number of years ago and finished Saturday by putting backs on them made from shirt fronts. Easy to make, easy to put on and take off.... just unbutton! I have several more, but I may use some of them for tote bags instead of pillows.
Two tote bags I finished Saturday, one smaller, one larger. Both have 3 pockets on the inside. I'm hoping to sell these on line. Any ideas on how I should price them? Never tried to sell any of my things before.
This is a purse I made for my friend Wanda. I bought this upholstery fabric last week on clearance at Walmart. The second picture is the inside of the purse with pockets all around.
My first project with Oil Cloth. You can't pin the material, used hairclips to hold together while sewing. It was fun and is fun to carry around on errands. It is just big enough to carry whatever I need to carry!
This is all the post cards I have received so far. I should be receiving one more. While posting this I remembered I have not taken a picture of the post card I have made. Will have to post it later, my battery is dead in my camera. Oh, well tomorrow is another day.
Hubby made me this for Christmas, he finished it yesterday with putting the cutting mat on it. It is a rotating cutting mat (like a lazy susan). It is so when you are cutting pieces you can turn the mat instead of the material. Cutting goes a lot faster with this. He has wanted to make it for a long time, now that he is retired he did it. Maybe him retiring isn't all that bad after all. Projects are getting done. He is a great guy, put still driving me nuts at times. It is getting better as time goes on it has only been a couple of weeks.
I got my first postcard from an exchange that I'm doing with my quilt guild. As I get them there will be 9 in all I will post them. I haven't even started doing mine yet, my next project. The theme is food, that is the only rule and done by April 15th. They are really great to get in the mail.
Well it's done. Didn't take long. I like the one he did for my Mom better. But this one is nice to. Smaller than the other, and it was square. I know he will be up to doing something else......he just bought a new router. LOL......saved over $120 ! can't beat that. And the end of February the Home And Garden Show will be in town. Edwards Sewing will be there....guess what I am going to HINT for???!!!
This is the candle Mat I made today using Nora's pattern. It took about 1 hour. Came out cute and was really easy to make. Now to get back to the studio to make several more of these. Great gifts. Thanks Nora for sharing your pattern. Hugs Diane
My sister made these for everyone in our family last year for Christmas. She lightly padded them to absorb moisture. But they are to pretty to use! SO I use them on my table for display. Just another thought for next year......
I made 12 of these Pin Cushions for Christmas gifts for the ladies in my Red Hat group. I got the idea from one I saw at a quilt show in Bisbee, AZ last year. The brim of the hat is from an old CD and the body of the hat is part of a disposable plastic drinking glass. I cut circles of fabric and gathered them to cover the CD and then stuffed the drinking cup portion with fiberfill and gathered a circle to cover it. The two pieces were then hot glued together. Next was the fun part -- embellishing the individual hats!!! Each hat was different a
I made this for Stephanie's Madam Alexander Doll. She is one of those 18" dolls. Not the $100.00 doll! LOL....to high for my blood. 30 was enough. She loves it. It's going to Tennessee today with Steph for Christmas. I made it from Fleece and it looks like a Cashmere coat. The fluff came off an old nightie. (don't ask) hehehehe. By the time I was done I had little black feathers floating every where. What a fun mess! I'll post more pics as I get things made up. Jammie's, undies, dresses, robe, ya know, all the things a little Lady needs to make it in the world of fashion.......
