With my job taking care of the elderly, I have been priveledged to attend a senior citizen art class.  This is the fourth painting I have done..and I really like this one.    I still have NO idea what I am doing!  lol  But it is fun.   the lady I take care of no longer attends the class, but I didn't want to give it up...and the teacher was nice enough to let me continue.  =)

Theo and me

Hi Girls,

It's a long time ago that I was here. But we have very busy months. At first we had our party for our 25 years of marriage. But I also have flue. This is the thirth week. It goes better now, but I'm still dizzy. I have sinusitus and sinus inflammation. And that causes that I'm dizzy. I hope I feel well soon. When I'm well you will see me more often. I have some pictures of the party from last saturday.

Kimmie has an idea for this exchange

in

Kimmie, wrote me a message in my guest books. This is what her idea for an exchange could be: What do you think?

"For the fifth block exchange, what if we did "mini" blocks in just two colors. If the group chose blue and white, we would each make 4 mini blocks (4" square)in the two colors for each person in the exchange. Then the receiving person could add sashing and arrange the blocks in a variety of ways.
Or, another idea, each person makes a dresden plate block to trade. I know my grandma has one she made with her friends and it is awesome!"

block exchange for the summer

in

I have not been on the site much this summer.  My back has been acting up and when it was'nt I was doing things with my family. I woke up early the other morning because I could not sleep,so i figured i would finish up the blocks for the mail.  I had the back door open for the fresh air.I have 4 cats, 2 sisters 14 years old and 2 brothers, 2 years old.  They like to go outside.  So I hear cat ruckus out back, i see the the boys and a big orange cat. So i call the boys, pss, pss. The orange cat rubs up against me, so thinking.

Cheryl - label for this exchange

in

Cheryl, could you make up a label like you did in the past for the other exchanges with the peoples name on it that did it. Aunt Judy knows who was in the exchange.

I love the label that you have done in the past.

Fabric swap

in

Sue, I've done fabric swaps in two ways - fat quarters and 6 inch sqares. Both were by style, either a certain holiday or florals or batiks or plaids, etc. I don't want to do fat quarters again but might be interested in doing sqares maybe 5 or 6 inch or even 4 inch if that's what others wanted to do. We used to swap 3 different squares for each person who signed up. So if 10 people signed up each person would cut 30 sqares (10 from each of 3 different fabrics) to swap. Anyone else have any ideas?? Ive been packing up my fabric but I haven't packed Halloween or Christmas fabric yet!!

Karen Grassle (Ma Ingalls)

On Sunday, my husband and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary.  We went to Genesee Country Museum, which is a museum of historic houses.  They do lots of activities.  Wendi does some of her civil war re-enactment there.    Anyhow......they had Karen Grassle there, the actress who played Ma Ingalls.  She gave a talk, and answered audience questions. It was fun.  Thought you guys might like to see how she looks now.  I loved and still love watching Little House on the Prairie.

Extra table

Several woman on the retreat had these little tables. They were so great. They are garage sale wood TV Tables that they put 100% cotton towels on then heat release fabric they got at Joann's. Then stapled the cover to the table on the bottom. They fold up flat so you can take them with you where ever you go. These were so handy to use. You could also use this to hold you pieces that you are about to sew. Or put your cutting mat on so it is really handy. This quilter had a small iron so it did not take up to much space.

4th block exchange of Jewel blocks - Instructions - QUESTIONS

in

I have noticed that all the instructions about size, pattern, due date are not clear with this exchange.

This is my understanding of this exchange, please correct if I do not have it correct.

Due: End of Sept.

Size unfinished: 12 1/2 X 12 1/2

At this point you will need to make 10 blocks.

Black material is brought from Pam Artman, so we are using all the same block.

Other material is your own that are Jewel Tones.

All material must be prewashed, to insure the fabric from bleeding later.

Use of good quality fabric.

It is a great day to sew for most of the day. Who is around? I hope to finish a quilt top. That is the plan anyway.

TP Holder

Well what else does one do when they are bored?? Jim made our master bath a cherry TP holder. It's hard for me to reach the way the builders installed the TP holder. He dis-likes it, I showed him that everyone that has seen them, loves them! LOL

my sewing room!

This is my sewing room.  The second picture is the window seat that my husband built and the bookcases on either side that hold all my fabric.  The next two pictures are closer shots of my fabric shelves.  The shelves on the left (the third picture) hold fabric sorted by type - flannels, batiks, baby prints, Christmas, homespuns, etc.  The top two shelves are fabrics chosen to go together, bundled for future quilts.  I think there are 32 bundles!  The shelves on the right side (the 4th picture) hold fabric sorted by color.
