2009 projects

How is your 2009 quilting year starting out?  What project(s) are you working on, starting, ready to start, hoping to start??? What would you like to make or finish for Christmas next year?  Have you made a 2009 Christmas list?  I haven't made a list yet, but I'm going to.  But I do have a few things I want to make this year as gifts for next Christmas.  I'd like to quilt my purple 9-patch quilt as a gift for my daughter Amy.  I'd like to make 2 quilts for my oldest granddaughters (ages 13 and 15).  And a friend of mine has admired one of my quilt tops for years now and I'd really like to quilt it for her for Christmas.  That's it so far for my Christmas list, but I have a list of other projects I want to make this year.  This is the year of the quilt!!!!   woooo hoooo!!

My first project

I have a baby quilt to finish ASAP because our granddaughter is due to arrive in a few weeks!  I finished the top this morning and now I'm ready to pin it and start hand quilting.  I hope this is the last baby quilt for a while.  In the last 4 years, I've made  14 baby quilts!   I'm hoping 2009 will be a year with NO baby quilts to make!!

projects

I finally finished all my customer quilts and have some time to work on stuff of my own. I have another Excellent almost done piecing and I have an Auston Block quilt on the frame right now with civil war fabrics. I bought the fabric for the pillowcases that still need to be done for this one.

I am making up a new design but need 4  2 1/2" squares to finish the inner border. Think I have any........NO!! And naturally Joann's doesn't have it anymore.

I have several quilts to get quilted for myself and family members that I want to get quilted.

Sharon

Ok, what's an Excellent?  And what's an Auston Block?  I love the Civil War fabrics.  I'm doing a "Dear Jane" quilt with those, but had to put it away to move and then make baby quilts for new grandbabies.  Don't you hate it when you run out of fabric so close to being done? You should post a picture of the fabric.  Maybe one of us has it!

I posted Xcellent and the fabric I need in gallary.

Auston Block is one I got from quiltblocksgalore.com. Marcia Hohn's site. It's remenicent of Civil War quilts and extremely easy to piece.

Mariners Compass class

I went to this class today & managed to get the 16-point star points done. I'm exhausted! Of course, I was somewhat tired even starting out this morning. But, overall my compass is quite good (not perfect). Paper piecing helps a lot but it was still quite difficult to get it absolutely right.

I tried posting pictures of recent quilts the other day & it didn't work....I upload from a Mac & am not sure why it isn't working. After uploading & putting in a title & description, I go to the next one, do the same, & the third one, do the same, then click on submit (or whatever the language is). I got some text reply but never saw any photos or anything get posted. This is in the gallery area. What did I do wrong?

Mariners Compass

I love the Mariners Compass and someday I'm going to make one.   I think I did one block for a sampler many many years ago.  I'd love to do a quilt with a center medallion of a Mariners Compass.  Just another quilt on my "someday" list!

The same thing happened to me a while ago. Tried to post and got a weird message. Went back to the home page and started over and it took my pics. Who knows what little gremlins could be lurking around.

Got a Quilt!

Well I Got a Quilt.  My Second One...  I didnt like the first one I got, the collors were too illogical and it drove me nuts!  I know... I know... I am a bit eccentric, but thats what makes me so COOL!  LoL

Where is the pic?? We need pics!!!!

Here it is...

Its been up for awhile, but here is the quilt that my Dog Currently is occupying.

Sorry MADMAN....

Sorry MADMAN.... I thought that this was the one you decided not to like, and that maybe you got ANOTHER one!!!  Now, I'm beginning to feel like Nora, just a little cornfused (yes I spelled this purposely this way!!)!!

I call it......

......well seasoned........not eccentric......hehe

Tons of projects

I have a ton of Projects to get finished.  I have about 20 tops I need to get quilted, about 12 sets of blocks to set together into tops, 3 wedding quilts, a couple of wallhangings for friends and I would love to make one for myself too.  The worst part is I will have until middle of April to sew and then I will be busy at the barn training until fall.  I'll only be able to sew in the late evenings - if I have enough energy by then,  I have so many patterns I want to try out.  I bought a Derek Lockwood pattern "Califoria Nites" that I have been trying to get worked into my schedule for months.  I love this quilt and just have to make one. Here is a link to a photo of the pattern http://www.lockwoodquilts.com/store/applique-d_pieced_quilts/california_nites.html    If I get this one made I will send it out to be quilted. Probably to Sharon if she has time.  Sharon does beautiful work.

Diane,

Wow!  I looked at California Nites!  What a quilt!  Looks like a huge undertaking!  good luck with it.  I have about 20 tops to be quilted too.  Not sure when I'll ever get to them.  And of course, a big stash of PhDs as well as a head full of ideas for new quilts.  I am going to start my new trip quilt today and I have my fabric and pattern picked out for the next quilt after that.  So many quilts, so little time!!

STUNNING.....

OMG....Absolutely stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Diane, best of wishes on this one!!  It most definetly will be a keeper for you!!  You can't let ANYONE (including me or Nora) talk you out of this one!!!!!!

TY

I just love the pattern and I am a spring with flowers kinda lady.  Even in black it reminds me of spring.

Pam

It will be a fun project if I can ever get to it and I think I prefer the colors shown to anything else I have thought of.  I've done very little applique - so it will be a learning experience too.

Diane,

I love to applique, but this looks like a bigger challenge than I'd take on.  Boy, you're brave!  But it is simply stunning and it will be so interesting to hear about it as you work on it.

Pam

Now to find the time for a me quilt.  I figure the applique will take me quite a while but the piecing shouldn't take that long.  Just getting the fabrics pulled for this one will take me a very long time.
