second step

This is the piecing for a Disappearing 9 Patch

1.  Cut squares your desired size (I personally prefer 3 1/2" to 4") then sew your 9 patch unit.

2. Cut in half in both horizontal and vertical.

3. Twist and turn the cut sections then sew back together.

This is so cool! I like it.

This is so cool! I like it. Looks like it would be hard until you look at it.....I can do this one! ......Sharon, you are the best!

9 patch cancer quilt

Sis, can I do this with my 9 patch cancer quilt squares? Wow, what a difference it would make on one of them ?!!  I like this idea!  booper

This is really cool

Memaw you are right, this is really cool. I have not heard about doing this block. So fast to do for a baby quilt, or even my flannel. I am marking this as a favorite. So simple but looks great.

Thanks for letting us know about this.

Sharon

Thanks for sharing - this is on my list to start for my next new project.  I just talked to my son Michael and another of his daughters, Ashley, is getting married in October.  This will make a wonderful wedding quilt and I have plenty of time to get this one together. Hugs Diane

9 patch

Glad you all like it............this can be done in controlled chaos!! Pic a fabric  you love and pull out everything that will go with it. I used 20 fat quarters plus 2 border fabrics for this one. Hopefully it will be enough. I got 20  4" squares out of each fabric.

I love your color choices

I love your color choices - so soft - I hope you have enough for the quilt you want to make.

9 patch

Sharon, I'm new to the group so am just finding my way around.  A friend I invited to the group said she looked at the 9 patch and it is the same pattern she uses.  It was so great seeing your post.  I've had my material picked out (all oriental) and your post inspires me.  I hope I can get to it soon!

I love this pattern!

My girlfriends both made one and its on my list of things to do!  I even made one block to show my daughter how to make it.    I love your colors!   If you make this with the same color, like red or blue, in the center of your 9-patches, then that color will make little squares throughout the quilt and it looks really neat.  Gotta make one of these!

WOW...

Great quilt Sharon!  I love the way it turns out!  You do some pretty amazing work!!  Have you been quilting for a long time??

Thanks

Thanks everyone

Cheryl.........I've been quilting since 1981........before rotary cutters, mats, markers.....all the good stuff we have now.

Pam......if you use controlled colors like red/white and blue........it looks more like a checker board when you put it together.  Some people like it....I'm not thrilled.

Do you think...

Do you think that this is a pattern, or should go under the patterns section so that people can find it easier?

If I still had the pics, I

If I still had the pics, I would put them over there......unforutnately I deleted them.

saving...

I have been saving up some really pretty pink fabric. I am going to use it using this pattern. I think it will outstanding!

What a wonderful, fast

What a wonderful, fast quilt! Great fabric choices!!

Great Colors

That is the exact pattern I worked on today.  If you start with an 8 or 9 inch block you can do a whole top in less than a day.

Kimmie, welcome

It is nice to see that you have made your first post. If you have any questions, we are all here to answer them.

Disappearing 9 Patch

I've just finished my second quilt top.  The pattern is so easy and it goes pretty fast.  I'll get pictures up of them, but first I have to press them.  Hopefully, soon.

June. I am happy that you

June. I am happy that you are making them up..........just don't forget to press as you go. You will end up with a much nicer quilt in the long run.
