Started this quilt top in the 1980's and didn't finish until the mid 1990's. It still isn't quilted. I have no idea where I got the pattern from.
This is one of my favorite patterns. I made a small wall hanging of this pattern, for my daughter when she got married. The people at the wedding signed it. The only problem we had, is that not all the people used the pen that I had put by the quilt. So their note, was not permanent. or very clear. Next time, I will attach the correct pen to the quilt, with a big note. Oh, well, live and learn. I had trouble with making the quilt come out flat. Did you have trouble with that? Did you use a special technique, or trick? Why hadn't you quilted it, it is so pretty with the blue and white. I love it.
I had trouble with the first pattern for this I tried. So I started over with another pattern and it lays flat!! I haven't quilted any of my larger quilts. Plan to quilt by hand. I just haven't done it. No excusses for it except setting aside the time!
I really like the way the blues graduate through the hues...
Love it!! I'm working on an ebay dwr from ebay for my sis. You can see what I'm doing on it on my blog.
...with Joyce. The blues the way you did it is great! The tiny print is awesome.
Thank you Joyce, Sharon, and Nora!
I will have to check out your blog Sharon.
Sharon, I checked out your dwr and it is beautiful. I love the quilting you have done on it!
What a neat pattern!! I love the way you used the colors. Sue I love your idea on the quilt signing. I better start on one now for my son for when he gets married so I will be sure to get it done!!!
Thank you Betty!
The quilt signing is surely a great idea for a wedding quilt.
I still LOVE this quilt. I am taking a class in double wedding ring next week...and I am thinking of using this quilt as inspiration.
Thanks Judy! Have you started your double wedding ring quilt yet?
HI Linda.....thank you for the inspiration of this quilt. I have done mine in shades of green. Originally I wanted to do shades of red, but I couldn't find the appropriate shading. I took a class in NY with Donna from this site (nursie76) We took the class and met for the first time ever. It was fun.
Our piecing method is using QuiltSmart. A fusible webbing. I am quite enjoying the process of this quilt. I can't even tell you how many times I have referred to your photos. THANKS.
Please tell me you DID start quilting....didn't you?? You posted this a while ago. I haven't decided yet how big I am going with my DWW. How big is this one?
Hi Judy,
A green one sounds very pretty!! I think that this quilt is queen size. What size are you thinking about making yours? Still haven't quilted this or any other of the quilts.....too busy, and tired after work for my crafts.
Judy,
I always loved the double wedding ring, but afraid to do it. So much bias.
I do love this quilt and can not wait until I see July's all done.
Linda, How are things? Are you doing well, job and all? It is nice to hear from you. Would love an update.
Take care,
Sue
Sue, you COULD do the method the way we learned for the Double wedding ring. I do believe that Mt. Pleasant Quilting Company was going to do another class in it. We used Quilt Smart which is a fusible material. I am finding this method very enjoyable and quite easy!
Hi Sue,
The job is doing fine. Keeping me very busy.
I had to have surgery seven weeks ago, but I am much better now. I had one bout after another of Diverticulitus, so they decided I had to have the surgery. So glad now that it was done so I can get life back to normal. Wegmans wanted me to come back light duty as soon as I was able. So a month after the surgery I was back to work stocking shelves and anything else that was not to heavy to lift. My co-workers are wonderful. They still get on to me if I am trying to do too much!!! I feel like I am not doing my share, but I appreciate that they care! I like my job, but wish I had the energy to do the crafts I love. Perhaps if I were younger I would have the energy to do it all......
How are you doing Sue! I haven't had time to look around here, but I did see a note that the site could be shut down! I hope you are able to keep things going here! If I ever find more time in my life, it would be nice to come here and visit more often. It is a shame that the site has not been paying for itself..... I wish I had a solution for that.....
As always take care,
Linda
By the way Sue, you will not find double ring any harder than putting a sleeve in clothes...well worth the effort!
