One of my dearest friends birthday is today, she turned a whole 47 years old!!    This is me in the brown and blue, Sharon in the gray.  We've been friends for over 20 years now!  When going through my fabrics last weekend, I had set aside these fabrics, (and believe me I used every last one of them) and put together, quickly, just a scrappy quilt, no pattern in mind, I really wanted to just practice some things, and this is what I ended up with!!  The little white squares are fabric printed through my printer, with little sayings about friendship, a to and from block, a happy birthday and a date block.  I just wanted something to break it up a little bit.  Anyway, my friend Sharon, who does NOT show a whole lot of deep emotions (we always joke, that she doesn't have to, because I do enough of it for all of us, thus my nickname from hubby and sons of BOO - not scarry boo, but boo-hoo crying boo) actually had tears in her eyes, which of course, got me all teary eyed.  I was not sure of even giving it to her, because there was no real pattern, or anything, but she was estatic, and said it was the best gift anyone has ever given her!!!  AND THEN, I had to take it back from her, so I can now quilt it, and finish it!!

So....now you know what I've been doing every night this week, since going back to work, and waiting on the kaleidoscope lessons to start again!!

sniffle...

It is just to cool! Cheryl, I can understand why she loved it. You put your heart into it for a friend, and it really touched her...you can tell by the smile.....

    Quilt for one's friend.........PRICELESS!

Thanks Nora!

You know, I guess it's a little strange, because it was the first quilt that I've ever given a friend!  I've given small things to family, but never friends, so it was touching

Really nice!

I love the colors, the different blocks and the way you put them together.  Such a nice gift.  Now you  know the best part of being a quilter... touching someone else with our craft.  It truly is priceless!  Well done!!

I am lucky...

Thanks everyone for your nice comments!  I continue to stay motivated!!  This weekend I didn't get to start the Trip Quilt, I almost spaced the fact that my 2 great nieces birthdays are this week, (they are 4 and 6) and their favorite Aunt, promised them their very own blankets (that's what they call them) with little doll quilts to go along with them!  One done, and ready to start the next one, so I can go see them this week with presents in hand!!

Great Job! Dr. Cheryl

Beautiful quilt.  And your friend looks truly happy - priceless.  Hugs Diane

Thanks Diane and MADMAN!!

You guys are great!!!!!

Friendship

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.  Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and be my friend.(Albert Camus) And Chery that is what you did. You gave of yourself. I cry at commercials and I did at this as well. What a nice thing to do....I am truly amazed at the pattern you came up with. COOL We need to talk about how you printed on fabric. I like that idea!

they sell it!!!

You can buy fabric sheets that are regular paper size,  that you run through the printer!!  I buy them at Joanns!!  I use them for alot of my photo quilts....much better than the old way I use to do it ... the transfers, which never transferred the way you wanted them to, especially if there were alot of dark colors in the photos!!

Thanks for the compliment, Sharon is a very dear friend, who I would do ANYTHING for!!

Putting fabric though the printer

You can also put your own fabric though the printer. The material needs to be prewashed. Cut freezer paper the size of copy paper, and your material. Iron the freezer paper on the wrong side of the material. Now put it in your printer. Just remember this is not permanent, so do not get water on it. I know you can buy fabric also at the quilt shops that can be washed in gentle cold water. This way can get expensive. I have never done it, so maybe someone else can add some information about this process.
