Grace Frame---GMQ-Pro or Little Gracie II

HI friend quilters

Does anyone have a Grace quilting frame?  I am seriously thinking of purchasing the GMQ-Pro.  Its the only one I can afford...well....its more than I have...but the Gammill and Handi Quilters are no less than 8 grand or so.  I watched the Grace Frame DVD the company sent me and it looks great.  The GMQ pro and Little Gracie II are the ones I am thinking about.  I would greatly appreciate some input on this.  I want a quilting machine frame and machine.  The GMQ Pro comes with a Juki.   Or you can use your own sewing machine.......HELP with decision making please.

Laurie

Thinking the same thing

I would love to know what you find out about this frame. I have also looked at it, my girlfriend wants to split the cost and share it.

Little Gracie II

I saw one on Craig's List  - so if course I called. I am picking it up tomorrow. Looking and the instructions - I said - 'what have I done?' -  but I am an intelligent person, and should be able to figure it out - if all else fails - I will get the kids to help me!! I am excited about this- as I would love to be able to do my own quilts, and not have to worry about paying someone to do them for me!! And it will motivate me to get them all DONE!!! Will keep you posted!!

Jan

Jan, AKA Janpct - Welcome

Hooray, you got a quilting frame. Was this a last minute thought buy? I should look on Craig's list and see there is one in my area. Congrats on the new frame and welcome to our site.  I look forward to seeing some of your quilts, etc.

I am looking at a used set

I am looking at a used set up for the Little Gracie II with a Jamome 1600 P long arm sewing machine for $900!  I go see it tomorrow.  The lady is upgrading and will sell this one.  She has had it 3 years and said she LOVES it.    Only problem, a friend of hers wants the machine and not the frame, but the seller wants to sell both so keep your fingers crossed.

If not I am going to buy the combo off a www.sewingmachinesplus.com, they have  financing with no interest and free shipping!!!!!  I would be leary to buy off craigs list.  I hope you get the original receipt from your seller or else Grace Co may not stand behind 5 yr warranty.  Good luck!  If I do go with a NEW set up then I want to make sure I get the "Pattern Perfect" templates do to the fancy stitiches where you follow grooves in the templates.  I learn a little more each day!

Cant wait!

Little Gracie

Well, took the drive and picked up the frame today!! I paid $300.....she had added the speed control...and xtra parts needed to be able to do a king size, and there is a box with the wooded patterns that were not even opened. So - after I complete the quilt top I am working on....I will be tearing my sewing room apart and re organizing! It should fit in here....I found a gal that has a home biz and is a dealer for Grace Co. doesn't do much with the big frames - but she said she would help me if I needed, and she lives right near my son....maybe I will make a new friend!! I also have a friend with a long arm machine - she may be able to give me some tips too!! No where to go but up!!!

oh i am so happy for

oh i am so happy for you....so you have the speed control...wonderful...what kind of machine are you putting on your frame????????

Gracie II

I have a Janome Memory Craft 3000 - it's about 10+ years old (where has the time gone??) Yikes, maybe it's time to update!!! I am hoping that will work - if not - I have to find out what the best one is to get!! So guess I wasn't much help - Maybe I am due to get a new machine...hmmm...that's a thought!!!

Machine

I also recently bought a  frame mine is a pro-flex still trying to figure out how to do the leaders. My sister has a frame and has done dozens of quilts she has a Baby lock professional long arm machine and loves it so I am going to buy one as well. I have talked to a lot of people and the majority say they recommend the Baby lock pro.  Hope this helps.

Machine

I just might have to take a ride to MA tomorrow. The store I used to get machine from has gone out of business...A friend of mine goes to this place in MA. Maybe they can help me out without selling me a Mercedes Benz model!!! My sewing space is 99% done being reorganized...now to fit that fram in there - might be a tight squeeze!!

Jan

Jan

Welcome to our space....AOQ....Good luck on getting you machine/frame!! I am excited about you organizing your space, I love doing things like that. I bet you are having a great time and can not wait to settle in a well organized work area......Have fun and it is great to meet a new potential friend.......     Ü     Happy quilting...Boop

Jan

Is a frame something that a regular long neck (shaft) machined sets in/on to quilt a quilt?  I think I understand but not sure.....Nora tried to explain this to me and a lady friend of RSVP showed us how to set a quilt up to quilt on, but not a long arm? Right?     Happy quilting...Boop

Machine

My machine should work - now if I can get the frame into the room!  images.google.com/images  hopefully this link works....getting closer to finishing the space - have someone is coming today to pick up a bunch of fabrics that I will never use - it's nice to clear out. Most of it I didn't buy - but got through freecycle at come point! My son came yesterday and put up my new ceiling fan...and I have 2 more shelves to get in the slash closet....but I should be outside today - it's too nice - after a week of crummy type weather!!

Hey Jan!

....it's been a while now, so how is your Gracie II ? Do you like it? I have been looking around and saw one but it was salty for the size. You got a great deal I think.

Little Gracie

Actually, I just received the dvd for the frame...so I could figure out how to make it work!!! Now Ihave to practice!! I had to wait until I finished the quilt for my son's Jack and Jill....yes - that did get done, and it was wonderful!! It went to a good home...not sure of the $$ amount that cem in - I was up against a 42" flat screen TV. I was pleased with who got it! Hopefully I will get back to another project soon, and can put the frame to work. Still debating if I am going to get another machine or not, I have not had a chance to go and check them out! Will keep you posted!! I have one quilt to repair, and 2 to make for my girls - it will be a busy summer!!! Have a great 4th!!

Sherry AKA cleogirl006

First of all welcome to this site. We have a great time here. This sounds like so much fun, getting something you wanted and a great price. Keep us posted on your new equipment. Maybe post a picture so we can also see it when you have it set up. To get a quilt frame is a dream that a lot of us would love to have or learn about.

Little Gracie and Juki Quilting machine

I love it! I am going to have to do more practicing, but it sure is fun. I did have trouble figuring out how to load the fabric on, but once I conquered that, it was good. When I first started out, my tension was off and thread was bunching in the back......after some adjustment, it was fine! Another thing, I would have a bunch of bobbins loaded so that they are ready when you run out. I see nothing wrong with this set-up for the home quilter. I found mine on craigslist for $800.....and love it!  Sherri

Sherry,

Congrats on the new Gracie!  This is something I'd like to do at some point.  Too many quilt tops and not enough time to hand quilt!  How do you like your Juki?  My husband bought me a used one and I couldn't get it to stop skipping stitches and breaking threads, so it's in the shop right now.  I'm wondering if I will eventually like it and would like to hear how you like yours.  Does it run good consistently?  Does it quilt nice?

Hi there...its January 4th

Hi there...its January 4th now!  I sold my Gracie GQ Pro with the Juki machine...It was wonderful.  I only used it 4 times.  I found that I wanted to make purses, totes, crafts and quilt tops more than I wanted to actually quilt....ANd it took up my entire living room.

My friend who bought it will use it way more than I would have.  She got a deal.  It was assembled and my sweet husband delivered it to her home.

I bought myself a Brother serger with an automatic lower looper threader.  It will be here Tuesday.

Hope all had a merry christmas and a happy new year.  Find me on facebook.  Laurie Stone.  ((((HUGS)))))

p.s.  GRACE frames are great for beginners or those like me who cant afford a handi quilter...and the Juki machine was excellent.
