When I was on my last retreat the woman were working on holiday table runners. They had gotten kits at the local fabric shop. The picture attached is Halloween. I loved it, they I got the idea that we could have a fabric exchange. Who ever wants to join in buys a fat quarter of material and we decide what shape it should be cut into. You cut out the amount that is in the group and mail to the organizer, the organizer than mails out to each member of the group all the different materials to each of the members. Then we could all make a table-runner, etc for each holiday.

I think Halloween would be a fun one to start with. The fabric most be 100% Cotton and a high quality material. The shape that the piece will be has to be decided.

Cut off date for this Halloween Fabric exchange will be Sept. 10, 2009 to have your material mailed to the organizer. So everyone could still have time to complete before the holiday.

If this is something we would like to continue we could do Christmas & other religious holidays, New Years, birthday motifs, Easter, passover, etc. Whatever our members would like to have a scrap exchange of.

What do you think, is this something you would like to do?

Fabric swap

in

Sue, I've done fabric swaps in two ways - fat quarters and 6 inch sqares. Both were by style, either a certain holiday or florals or batiks or plaids, etc. I don't want to do fat quarters again but might be interested in doing sqares maybe 5 or 6 inch or even 4 inch if that's what others wanted to do. We used to swap 3 different squares for each person who signed up. So if 10 people signed up each person would cut 30 sqares (10 from each of 3 different fabrics) to swap. Anyone else have any ideas?? Ive been packing up my fabric but I haven't packed Halloween or Christmas fabric yet!!
