NEW UPDATE

Ok, gals, here's the list of people participating in the swap.  Me, Sue, Kim, LeeAnn(SommerL), Cheryl, Judy, Layna, Debra (Blackforest), Linda (Hobbystash) and possibly Nora.  Nora, are you in?  I haven't seen a commitment yet!.  As I receive your money, I'll mail out the black fabric.   $6 will cover 1 1/2 yards of the fabric and postage.  That will be enough for your 10 blocks and an inner border for your quilt, plus a little extra.   Check, money order or cash (wrapped in a piece of paper) will be fine.    You will also need 7 fat quarters of jewel tone fabrics and these should be tone on tone, solids, batiks, marbled, or small prints.  No large prints please.   We want to give everyone lots of time to sew them because of summer activities, so  these blocks will not be due till the end of September.   The new picture is the rotary cutting instructions from my quilt pro program.  You don't need to follow the colors exactly as in the sample block of course, but the black DOES need to be in the same places.  Four of these 6 inches sub-sections go together to make the block.   Have fun everyone!!

Here's a new link for a pattern.   (I'm sorry, the old link was for a 16" block.  Thanks Linda for catching that!)

I do not have any words

There are no words for this quilt. It is out of this world. Wonderful color

Sue,

I love the quilt program on my computer because I can "color" in the quilts with fabric and it tells me how much fabric to buy and even rotary cutting directions!  Are you going to join the exchange?

Hi Pam

I think I will join this exchange. It is far enough away the due date that it will be fine. This is really a pretty quilt.

Thanks for doing this.

Sue

It a done deal for me!

Since I don't have my jewel tones yet, how much boarder print will I need, seems I should be getting that at the same time...The black there is absolutely black, black - like an Amish black material.

Just beautiful! :D

Happy Quilt'n! ~ Kim :-)

Kim

My computer calculates that for a 54" square quilt (9 blocks) you will need 1/2 yard of an inner border fabric and 1 3/4 yard of the outer border fabric.  If you want the inner border black like in the pick, you can let me know and I'll cut you 1/2 yard extra when I get the black fabric.

@Pam

By all means, I would love to have the inner border the same color (black) super!  So you will need to add the additional fabric to my order....Thank you!

Happy Quilt'n! ~ Kim :-)

I love that quilt!

I love that quilt!  I would likea 1/2 extra for the inner border, please.  When you get the fabric, let me know how much I owe you.  Also, will you be posting a pattern for this quilt?  Pam, you are a "jewel".  Thank you for all your hard work on this project!

Lee Ann

Ditto

to all of the above!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I love it also, and can't wait to get started on this one....might have to make an extra one :)

I'm glad you all like it!

And yes, I'll post directions or a link to some.  I'll be shopping this weekend with my friends so I'll watch for black fabric.   I'll let you know next week what I find!  I will figure a yard and a half for everyone, so there will be plenty for an inner border as well as 12 blocks.   I just need to know how many want to participate!!  If you talk to anyone in chat, please ask them if they want to join and point them in the right direction to sign up if they haven't already!  Thanks everyone!

Pam,

I really love the tones you chose. Esp the pink and the turquoise, it's great!

This is GORGEOUS!

I absolutely love the colors & the effect. Super nice!!!

Pam

this block exchange looks like it is going to be a blast.  I know I will be sorry in the end, but I have decided not to join.  But I can't wait to see all your quilts!!  I recently bought this same basic pattern and have all the material to do it.

p.s.   you know what kind of an exchange I would LOVE to do in the future?  I would love to do an album quilt, and we each sign the blocks.  It would be heart warming (and body warming) to wrap yourself up in a quilt and see the names of the friends who made it

@Judy

What a great idea Judy!  I would love to do that down the road!

Thanks!

Happy Quilt'n! ~ Kim :-)

fifth block exchange

Glad you liked the idea Kim.  So if others like this too, then perphaps this could be the fifth block exchange. I just think it would be so cool, to have the names, town and state on each block.

I would like yo do the album

I would like yo do the album quilt as well,  Great idea!   Gina

Would love to join, but not till Oct!

I'm just too busy now : (

I hope it'll be set up for a few month's out??

And, Judy -- an album quilt? that's sure an undertaking. My applique experience is less than 8 hours (and a struggle). Calls for quite advanced skills without lessons to go with it.

Layna,

I don't think she means a Baltimore Album (appliqued) quilt, but a signature quilt that's also called an album quilt.  It can be one of many different patterns, as long as there is room on each block for a signature.  My mom is doing one for all her kids and grandkids.   It would be a nice exchange if we could get a LOT of people to join and send their signature blocks.

Signature quilt

Okay, different block patterns - so it looks like a sampler with everyone's different blocks completed?

That'd be cool!

Count me in

Pam I love the quilt and please add me to the black list  lol. I will sign up . The 5th exchange I think I will have to pass on as I am trying to make my oldest daughter a applique quilt for her birthday in Oct. and this is my first try at this kind of quiltting. Any help that you are able to give me would be greatly apperciated. First time pattern suggestions ladies and gents would be wonderful.

ok Debra,

you are blacklisted!  LOL   Are you going to do hand applique or machine?  I do hand applique and I have a couple of easy patterns I can recommend.  I did some heart applique quilts where the background to the block is a 4 patch and the heart that is appliqued on it is also made with 4 different sections.  I did it in scrappy pastels and it was sooo cute.   I also did a winding way quilt with hand applique in scrappy purples for my daughter and I'm doing one for me in scrappy burgundies and creams.   I haven't done any machine applique.  I enjoy doing it by hand and having a portable project I can pick up and take with me when I go away for the day or for a weekend.

Pam

Thanks for the suggestions they both sound great where might I find the patterns??

Pam

What a beautiful quilt......You did a wonderful job....I am going to set out on this one for now until the fall....I love being outside and 2 acres are alot for me to take care of with house cleaning....LOL and someday soon I will be using my own computer...Happy quilting...Boop

Okay - I'm in : ) !

I can get my blocks done by the end of Sept. I really love this block! Can you tell me what fabric you bought at Joann's as I might be able to get it locally at our store? That'll allow #10 for joining without any problem. The other possibility is looking at their fabrics online to buy that particular fabric if more people join than expected.

Let me know.

Pam

Thanks again for all of your hard work.  Let me know where to send you a check, and I'll send it this week

Lee Ann

Sign me UP Pam!

Just let me know where to send the money and we are set to go!  I know you know that I know that I want to do this, so just letting  you know that I know for a fact that I want to do this, OK?  Thanks!

Happy Quilt'n! ~ Kim :-)

grrrrrrr

ok........I did it.  I said I wouldn't join,....but then I said I probably would...then I said  no.  Today my husband and I went to a quilt show.  He is the reason I just signed up. He said he really liked the quilts with the black background.  I can't believe I just signed up!!!   I am CRAZY!!   I have too much to do!!!

all I can say is.....

JUDY, JUDY JUDY..........sounds like a movie! LOL

Another UFO

You will need to put this on your UFO list, what to do, the list never gets shorter only longer.
