What a Great Afternoon I've had!! PLEASE DO NOT LOOK VERY CLOSE!! I've got one stupid place that did not match up very well that is glaring, and probably a heck of alot more that I don't want to see (HAHA!!) I am loving this design! The colors are so much better in person than these photos show! I've decided to make additional pieces using the same fabrics, but chaning them around and turn them into a full quilt as a gift. I think it should turn out pretty cool! So okay Sue, I'm now addicted, when do you think we'll get our next lesson?? I've got all week to sew, so I'll keep you updated on the different pieces!!
ADDED TODAY MONDAY...........
OKAY....Did I tell you I have to cut all these with scissors one at a time, because I'm not allowed to push anything???? So, this is what I got cut out today for the 3 additional blocks to make this a quilt!!
Last Night I added a picture of lesson 1&2 completed onto my blog site, and today my son in Georgia calls me, and says MOM.....I LOVE THAT QUILT....are you making it for us???? I guess I know who's name will go on this gift!!!! He thought it was a huge quilt, and when I told him it was one piece, he still wanted me to send it to him!! KIDS!!!! Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em!
p.s. MADMAN....How do I make these pics smaller????
You did a terrific job on your block and I love the fabric you chose. All I got finished was the middle star. Maybe I can get to the rest tomorrow. I love floral fabric and your's is stunning.
that is very kind of you Diane! I love yours, and the color!! I'm anxious to see how the other pieces turn out, which I will also work on tomorrow, since I'm not working all week, and maybe not even next week!!!!!
Love your fabric choices!! It's so great to see the different looks of the same pattern....love that we're doing this.
Linda, have you taken photos of yours yet?? It is neat to see the different looks you get with the different fabrics! Please share yours also!
I love the way that works. All the same pattern and all different. We are all going to get something really pretty out of this.
I was hoping to see this. I was hoping people could pull out from the pattern how to do Kaleidescope Quilts... They are some of my FAVORITES!
Mike
They always look so pretty and you get some really unusual patterns too.
Mine's in Sue's group section ....http://www.allourquilts.com/content/kaleidoscope-quilt
Another beautiful piece! I don't know how I missed thoses posts, but glad you directed me to them, so that I could see them. And yes Sue, Thank you for such EASY directions! You did a fantastic job with them.
I love the colors you chose. Very nice. Thanks for directing me to the photos of the group. I'll get min moved over there with the rest of them. Hugs
By the way, got some really neat symetrical fabris from thousands of bolts...can't thank you enough for that recommendation!
What a great job you did. I really love it. I better get going on lesson 3, now that so many of you have gotten to this point. This is wonderful seeing all of these coming together.
Love the fabric choice!!
One day I want to make a One Block Wonder. Those are really gorgeous.
Cheryl...those are all great. Needless to say, we'll have to see the entire quilt when it's done...what a great idea.
The extra blocks you are making are just gorgeous. Sorry I'm so late responding - I've been in Albuquerque shopping and I made it to JoAnn's. Needless to say - I spent plenty. I also hit a couple of quilt shops and have lots of new fabrics.
I know that the shaded fabric doesn't quite follow the kaliedoscope, but I'm really hoping that when I put it all together, it will look pretty good. I like the look of how they turned out.
Diane, sounds like it was a good day shopping! I have to have hubby take me out this morning to an Association that I belong to, and do all their year end accounting, so I'm going to have him run me over to Joann's for a look at a few border fabrics that will go with this!!
Sounds like you are going to have some shopping fun today. I did accounting for years and it is a tedious job. Much more fun quilting and fabric shopping. Let us know what you decide for a border fabric. Have fun too! Diane
I love your blocks! The blue variegated fabric works so nice. I just joined the group and I'm ready to go back in my sewing room and look for fabric to make my block!
This is so much fun!!!!!
Ohhhh yes, Hubby took me to Joanns today, and $89.00 later....I'm home (Good thing I handle the checkbook LOL)! Of course I spent $$$ on some printable fabric, so I can make some picture quilts for the kids' anniversaries this year! I thought that might make a nice present for both of them!! And when I got home, a package from Thousands of Bolts was at my door, with 8 beautiful yards of fabrics!!!! 2 of Which I'm sure will get incorporated into the Kaliedoscope quilt!!!! I didn't realize what a purple trip I've been on until I opened this package today!! HAHA, good thing I like the color purple (and it's shades), as for gift recipients, well, like it, or give it back, I guess!!
Sounds like it was fabric coming from everywhere. Makes you smile - doesn't it?? Purple is a great color and I'm certai you have some in the new pile that will go just wonderfully with the star wallhanging to help finish it into a whole quilt.
I got the first part of my block done and I really like it. I want to do a wall hanging with 4 blocks.
There are some great purples in there, but I also got adventurous, and bought some teal green and orange (that is the center color in the pansies) that I think will be really cool....oh I hope I'm not TOOOOOOOO OUT OF THE BOX HERE!!!!!!
Sounds good to me. Can't wait to see how it comes along. I love the color combo you have chosen.

Cheryl, is thousands of bolts the name of a fabric house? Never heard of it, sounds interesting.
http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/ This is a link to the site. They are having a really good sale right now too! Enjoy
Lynnielee
found it and I will have fun!!!
Don't buy all the fabric - I might need some too!! :) Hugs Diane
I love the additional blocks you did. The blue with the darker center is my favorite. What a great idea to take this pattern and change it like you did. You are a great PhD. Love it, you guys always make me smile when I read your posts. The first thing I do in the morning is check to see what is going on. There you all are with these great things.
Some of you really stay up very late and on again early. You must not sleep very much.
I'm usually up til about midnight and back up by 5am. But remember that I am in Mountain time zone - it is 9:15am here right now.
Dr. Diane, how do you function on 5 hours sleep???????????????????????
