I love the black with the bright colors! That is going on my list "to do" in '09! Gotta find the right colors to go with it, like you did!!
Bright and Black makes a fun quilt to put together. Don't tell me you are going shopping again?? That stash is getting bigger as we speak. Good Job Cheryl Hugs
Very Nice! I have always liked the bright colors with black in quilts.
I really love the black background, it really makes the design stand out. This quilt glows. How did you quilt this? Do you use a black thread on the black and then a colored thread for the design? I was wondering which would be the best way to quilt this. That would be my biggest problem doing this quilt is what would be the best way to show off the design even more.
Also did you use a black batting for this. I did one dark quilt and used white batting and it made a mess. What are your tricks to make this come out so well?
I used black batt and a medium to light varigated thread for the color parts and black for most of the black. I used a large overall stipple - nothing fancy since this is a drag to the sofa quilt.
I love the black background. I want to make a quilt with black, but haven't decided what pattern to use. I inherited a big stack of the arcs for a double wedding ring quilt and I have considered using a black background to put those together. I've never seen one in black. What do you think?
That is a terrific idea. I think that will be beautiful and unusual. You should definitely give that one a shot.
is so lucky....Thanks Sue for the questions, I learned something from them. What can I say this quilt has Wow all over it. I am in awe. Brittney take good care of it and make sure that you document it made with love...There is something about black in a quilt. This is one of my favorites!!
Thanks I'll tell Brittany to take good care of this one. It has a label on the back. Hugs Diane
I have learned a great deal from everyone here. The exchange of information is the best part. We should always ask questions, how are we to learn and grow if we don't. So have fun ask away. I most say this is why I like the way Mike has set this web site up. You see the quilt and then we can talk about it as much as we want. See what is going on everywhere else, besides making great friends, like all of you. What a bonus!
Something tells me my sister is not far ahead of me! LOL..........
That is gorgeous! Black really makes the colors pop!
Thank you. The pattern was a freebie from Planet Patchwork a couple of years for a New years mystery. It was the worst written pattern I have ever worked on. There were several mistakes that took lots of time to get around. Some of their mistakes were in the cutting instructions which meant that I had to find more fabric and cut new pieces. I haven't done one of their mysteries since although it was kinda fun working on the mystery that day. I was new to the mystery quilting thing back then.
