I thought it would be fun to make a matching quilt and afghan set. Not sure yet who this will be going to. The afghan is crocheted using the Tunisian crochet knit stitch. The quilt as shown being inspected by Sunny has been hand basted to the batting and backing but I have not yet started quilting it. Design to be determined...lol.
Meanwhile, I'm attempting to hand quilt my kaleidoscope quilt. My fingers BE SORE...
These are GORGEOUS!!! I'm sooo impressed! That afghan is really beautiful. Was it hard? I have done some crocheting, but nothing like this. And the quilt is beautiful too. Wow! How neat to have a matching set!!!
No it's actually not hard. You just have to pay attention to color changes. Once Ron's in bed, quilting is out of the question since my sewing room is at the opposite end of the house. And I have to have something to do with my hands while watching tv and attending to him. Unfortunately, the arthritis in my hands is getting worse so I can't crank these babies out like I used to. I absolutely love converting quilting blocks to afghan designs. You could actually do the same thing with cross stitch for that matter.
Linda, these are fantastic!!!!!!!!! I love to crochet also, but I know I could NEVER EVER do anything like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW.....Did you teach yourself the crochet pattern??? This is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not as hard as it looks! Don't ya just love it when someone says that (grin)? But it's really true. I designed the blocks using cross stitch software. I drew the block then filled in the little squares with the appropriate colors. Then just changed color for those stitches. You can adapt just about any cross stitch pattern to an afghan block. By the way, baby blocks look awesome using this process...hmmm there's an idea for ya...matching baby afghan and quilt......TIMES TWO....LOL.
I love that idea!!!! Now....can you help me add about 12 hours isnto my day??????
Just beautiful! You make it look easy.......fimble fingers here....lol.......I like them floors to!
Don't be looking to closely...the floors need a washing. With two dogs, two cats, and a wheelchair, it's a never ending job. We have ZERO carpeting, which I love...only an area rug in the living room. Our last house had carpeting and Ron's wheelchair destroyed it within six months.
Gorgeous!!!
Hey Linda..you said that you didnt' know what you were going to do with them. I suggest you box them up and mail them to some lady who calls herself AuntJudy!!
W O W!! They are B E A U T I F U L what an inspiration. I am marking them as my first ever "favorites!"
I can not come up with any words that could do this justice. Your work is wonderful, a very talented lady.
