Sewing space

Tried to find an area that this question would be best posted - but here goes - I am getting ready to re organize my sewing room and make it more functional. Big question - should the carpet come out  - I have hardwood floors underneath.....any input would be greatly appreciated!! Of course DH will have a fit - but oh well - he put laminate AND carpet in his studio - guess it's my turn for my space!!

Thanks in advance...

hi

Hello and welcome to AOQ.  My unprofessional opinion would be the hardwood floors.  As for me when I quilt and sew, I tend to just drop scraps and threads onto the floor.  With the hardwood, it makes it a lot easier to sweep up.  But I am one of many many people here, so I too will be interested to see what response you get.

My sewing room...

has carpeting and I wish it had hardwood floors.  I have a chair on wheels and it's hard to roll from sewing table to cutting table to ironing board, etc.  As soon as we can change it, I want something smooth... either tile or hardwood!

Hardwood

I to have carpet in my quilting room and wish it was hardwood or laminate some thing smooth much easier to clean and roll your chair from one post to another .   GO HARDWOOD!!!!

well.....

We are going to be putting down bamboo some day. It is harder and more durable than most hard woods. We checked into this for several months and it is cheaper than most hardwoods....hard to believe. I have carpet right now. The threads get walked into the rest of the house.....can't wait to start ripping up the carpet!

I wish I had....

Hard wood.  I have carpet and every once in a while I 'find' a pin with my foot!  If I had hard wood instead of carpet in my studio, I know it would be easier to keep clean.  It would be easier to roll my chairs around also.

My vote is HARDWOOD

Hi and Welcome.  I have carpet and wish it was harwood.  Easier to get a broom out then the vaccum.  Gina

Hardwood vs carpet

Guess the wood floor wins!!! Now to convince the DH.....I can't believe that the previous owners put in this so so Berber carpet instead of keeping the wood....I REALLY have to re organize now -  picked up the Gracie II today!! Now to figure it all out !! And learn how to use it!!! I got a great deal!!
