Summer Exchange Jewel Tones is Over. Blocks are being mailed

in

I am hoping not to anger anyone with this blog.  The Summer Jewel Tone exchange was to end on September 30th.    As of Nov. 1st, I have all the sets but two sets.   I realize we all have busy schedules and unforseen circumstances arise, but three of our members did this exchange hoping to use these blocks for a holiday gift.  If I have no objections or receive no word, the blocks I currently have will be mailed out Wedensday morning.  This also means you will receive back one or two of your own blocks.   Thank you.

Cheryl - label for this exchange

in

Cheryl, could you make up a label like you did in the past for the other exchanges with the peoples name on it that did it. Aunt Judy knows who was in the exchange.

I love the label that you have done in the past.

I'll be heading for my niece's wedding in Las Vegas next week. Here's the quilt I made for her & her husband-to-be. The quilting on this came out beautiful - I picked out a pattern & variegated thread & our local quilt shop did the quilting. How often someone might use a quilt in Vegas is uncertain; but, they can always use it as a wall hanging! I heard it will match their new home's interior color scheme. That's good!

Not sure if I've posted this one before. It's our RV quilt - color scheme goes with the RV's decor : )

Finished my 10 blocks for the summer exchange. It looks great with all the blocks laid out. Now that I finished mine, I can't wait to get these mailed and receive everyone elses.

Yea, I know they are due the end of September, but that doesn't mean that I can wait. LOL

This is a great block to do for an exchange.

I love how it turned out.  Thanks for picking this block. At first I looked at the directions and was not sure that I could do it. But the instructions are done well.

Thanks Linda AKA Hobbystash, your hint with using Eleanor Burns ruler really helped a lot with getting the center done right. I took a class last year to use these rulers and this is the first time out of class that I used them. They worked great. I never think to use them.

I have done my first block to make sure it comes out right. It is not a hard block to do at all.

4th block exchange of Jewel blocks - Instructions - QUESTIONS

in

I have noticed that all the instructions about size, pattern, due date are not clear with this exchange.

This is my understanding of this exchange, please correct if I do not have it correct.

Due: End of Sept.

Size unfinished: 12 1/2 X 12 1/2

At this point you will need to make 10 blocks.

Black material is brought from Pam Artman, so we are using all the same block.

Other material is your own that are Jewel Tones.

All material must be prewashed, to insure the fabric from bleeding later.

Use of good quality fabric.

Fourth Exchange blocks

Done. As you can see, I made identical blocks which resulted in an interesting effect. Looking at this pattern, you can create so many different effects depending on your color selection...I'm planning to put the four blocks I keep on each of the corners so that they blend with everyone else's blocks and the identical effect is lost.

The middle row of each block was a struggle but the end results of this pattern are worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's blocks.

CRAZY QUILT

Whenever we’re sick at our house,
Me, or Mugsie, or Milt
Mom feels of our head then says “Oh-oh, It’s you for the crazy quilt!”
Then she gets it down out of the cupboard And spreads it out over the bed,
And then we don’t mind being sick near so much Or having a tempachure head.

Wanda's Jewel Box2.JPG
Wanda's Jewel Box quilt

I've always wanted to make a jewel box quilt.  This picture is a jewel box quilt made by my friend Wanda.  The block is easy and we could make the block  in different jewel tone colors -  emerald green, amethyst purple, ruby red, topaz yellow, sapphire blue, tourmaline green and turquoise blue with either a white or a black background.   That's my 2 cents worth!
