it's so quiet in AOQ'S...........whats up with that? LOL
I'm not outside.... it's been too dang hot!! I've been busy though..... I'm going downstate (Michigan) for a couple weeks to visit friends and my mom and dad so I've been busy getting my stuff packed, cleaning the house, and doing some shopping with my daughter. I was going to visiting her this week, but instead she'll be working and keeping Jerry company since she has moved up here. But I will get to spend a few nights with my quilting friend, Wanda, a few nights with my oldest friend (my roommate from college), a few more days with Wanda and a big picnic on the 4th with her family, and then a week in Grand Rapids staying at my niece's and visiting with my mom, possibly my dad, and a bunch of my family! then a family reunion on the 11th and back home on the 12th. My favorite cousin Sue is coming up from Texas and I don't get to see her too often, so I'm looking forward to some long chats, some lunches out, and just a lot of good quality family time. I'll miss you guys, but I'm excited!
....but it sounds like fun! Be safe and relax and enjoy! We will miss ya!
but not these last two days...! Sitting around waiting at mom's while getting my car fixed in the Honda shop! At least they have air...Our air condition is out and the pool water is about 90-92...Evenings work on the yard....and going swimming...but it is too, too HOT!!!! I am not even hungry...and can't sleep...Tired and grumpy because I can not accomplish anything...I did go to the mall to get my eyeglasses ordered and they came in two days after we went to town for the car LOL wouldn't you know it! So my son and I went back into town to pick them up...spent some time at Mom's again and had a nice visit....My husband has a birthday coming up at the end of the month and a graduation party coming up this weekend with family after the 4th we will be having a Wedding in Grand Rapids...Maybe we can get together Nora after the 4th for Shipshi if not, you and Cheryl go and not wait on me....It is not any fun to be in Shipshi in this heat...Call me and let's try and set something up. What do ya think Cheryl? Happy quilting...Booper
We got home late last night, from our trip to the Vermont Quilt Show, Boston and the NYC. Was a great trip. I think it is quiet because of summer and people are going on vacation, getting outside and just enjoying summer. I will be around more again.
How all is well with everyone.
Sue
HI Sue, How was the Vermont show. I have seen it advertised in some of the pamplets from different shows I have gone to. It looks like it was nice. How was the weather? Talk to you soon. Gina P.s. I hope I can get a chance to chat with you sson. I miss that.
I did enjoy the quilt show, but would never go again. It was 6 hours to drive there, but the drive is wonderful so pretty.
I did not take any classes, which is fine we were only there a day.
We were at the show at 9:00 and was done walking around looking at everything by 1:00. It was to long of a drive for that short of time. The international shows are really special so I think when we go somewhere I will go to them.
The Pennsylvania shows look like that maybe what is next. I would love to hear if anyone else has gone to them.
HOT...is not even the word for what this weather has been the last three days!!! I've come home from work all three days, with the headache from H-E-double toothpicks!! I know it's from the heat, but what can you do!! Gotta work!! Tonight we were down at the lake raking, and turning the seaweed I paid a high school student to take out of the lake for me!! Next week he'll be staining my deck, which will be a huge job!! We've had company what seems like non stop, and more coming this weekend!!! I haven't had ANY QUILT time lately, and really miss it...I have so much to do!! I'm up for Shipshy whenever you girls are...I just need a few days to clear the calendar at work!!! So let me know...and let's go!!!!!
I understand that pain! I feel for ya sister! Being that I can not handle the heat can we wait until later towards fall? I can't get out into the sun to much with out burning up. I run to the car and run to cover after that LOL.....and to get out in this stuff, no way. I suffered heat stroke twice and landed up in ER.
As for the week, I have been staying inside. Started knitting. Putting around in the sewing room, but that is it. I want to start sewing this weekend. Every fiber in my body has hurt.....so I'm going to drug my self, slightly, lol.....and go for it. Had an appointment today .....well one of the "GIRLS" had her side shot done. Every six months. But the doc ssaid the lump has not changed and looks great. I will see ya in ^ months. And that's what I prayed for.
Other than that, not much going on.
whenever your ready to go, I'll be ready too!! Have a great weekend everyone! We've got company coming in the morning, so tonight is "clean-up"!! LOL
Pam thanks so much for sending me your pattern for the hand applique hearts I will get busy on it as soon as i finish up my hubby's bday quilt. I will post pics when its finished that is the hearts . Thanks again !!!
Debra
It's a good method for applique, even though I don't usually follow that. I usually just do needle turn applique (marking the pieces and turning them under along the line as I applique) but it's a great technique and very good for beginners. Let me know how you like it!
maybe it's been extra quiet...because I heard that auntjudy lady was out of town. =)
My little dog Scooter, that you see on my profile picture got very sick this week. He died on Thursday........ We are pretty much in shock and devestated as he was one of our "kids". I will be back soon in full force, but right now, I'm in very low gear.
I'm so sorry to hear of your dog, they are our children in so many ways. They are truely missed when they are not around.
My heart goes out to you.
Take care,
I am truly sorry to hear about your little dog passing on. Our dog "Shasta" a black lab who has been in our family for 14 years is having a hard time walking and breathing. The vet says she is still okay. But I wonder. We have had rain for weeks and now the hot weather is coming fast. I can see her being less active. I feel your pain. My thoughts are with you. Gina
In a self inspired step I decided to "fix" Wendi's front step and garden. So I pulled out the carbin bladed saw and started to cut. Well there was more then just black top. There was 2 layers of black top and a HUGE concrete slab.. So I had to rent a saw and spent all day pulling it out. We left today around 8, exhausted and totally spent. I am kinda bumed because I spent 2 days cleaning the driveway to get ready for some warm days that I could resurface the driveway. Well the blade to cut the blacktop and concrete made a mess of our driveway. Ohh and Wendi didnt want a bush so she hooked it up to her truck with a big chain (and with some work) pop the hole thing came out.
Basically I am burned on the sholders so bad it hurts to move and spent all last week working on the driveway/garden. Next up, when I get paid I got to buy some ROCKS! We are going to wait to plant till next year! Im all itchy because my skin is so dry from burns and tans. Im a little read mixed in with a little tan!
Mike
Put vinegar on it, as a kid I would do this and it worked. You will smell like a salad.
Now the mother in me, No Sunscreen, are you out of your mind?
Mike you can also put cold wet towels on....it will pull th heat out.
LEANN.......I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. It is sad when we loose one of loved "kids". Been there and it really hurts. My paryers and hugs are with you.......
There is another product that has aloe in it....it is called Sunburn Relief. It works great at soothing the burn. keep putting moisturizing lotion on to help with the peeling that you are sure to get next.
oh how we love our pets. And they are not just a pet.....they are members of our family. We love them with all of our heart. I understand the loss of a pet. We had one die a few months back. Know my thoughts are with ya at this sad time.
to both Mike and Leann....
It's been a little over 2 years that we lost our beloved General, and we still miss him! We got Gizmo right after and don't regret it for a minute!!!!! They really are such a part of our lives!! Stay in low gear for a while LeAnn!!! hugs to you~~
.....what I would do if we lost Mr Pibb and Mr Watson. Those to keep us laughing daily. They follow us every where. And when I don't feel well, Watson is at my feet. I just don't want to think about it.
an aloe plant works great for sun burn. Break a piece off and slice it down the side. Straight aloe is the best for the burn. And your mom is right about the vinegar too. Hope you feel better with it. Gina

It sounds as if everyone is having a great summer. Summer monthes are very hard to do any sewing. There are to many activities going on. Have a safe cool summer. I will be checking in on everyone soon. My girls are going to the shore for a week with their friends. Robert has to work. So my husband and I decide to take a three day vacation to Washington D.C. to check out the sights. Then I leave the end of the month for Hershey. Quilt Odysee show. i have two classes scheduled. Looking forward to it. I love it up there. The people are so laid back. The amish ride around in their buggies. Unlike South Jersey. The people around hear honk their horns at you if you don't go when the light turns green. LOL! Gina
How big is the show there?
What classes are you taking?
Have you gone before?
This is a show I was thinking would be a good one to see, not this year, but next.
Have a great time and tell us all about it.
Thank you all for your kind words. I know that all of us that have pets understand the hurt and the vacancy in our hearts. We were going to take Scooter to the White River last weekend, but didnt work out that way. We still had a great time. My daughters left their busy lives to come up and spend time with me, and we had a blast. I guess the timing of the trip was good, kept our mind off of Scooter for at least a little while. I know this may sound silly, but because of special reasons, we could not bring him home to bury him. So, I'm going to pick him up on Friday in a little box, with his name on an engraved plate that says, "Boomer Sooner Scooter, Mama and Daddy's Lil Boy". :o(
We bury all our pets. Jim's parents have a pet cemetery at their house. They raise Burmans. So they need a special place. I have tried talking Jim into making pet caskets, he is not to sure about it......with his wood working, he would be good. I think there is a need for it, I also heard today on GMA where you can now fly your pets in a special plane only for cats and dogs! Starting at 149 bucks. Now how cool is that!
Everyone, it has been far to long since I have been on but I have been checking up on everyone...Mike sorry to hear about the sun burn. The girls are right about the aloe and vinegar water... There is a cream that we used when we came back from Hawaii that we put on to keep the tan from drying out and not to flake...It is after tan, something like that ... I have been there as well digging up old concrete sidewalk that grass grew over and tried to hide. I think that it is a mans job..LOL
Sommer I am so sorry to hear about Scooter...we have all been there...I still miss my black lab Joe.
Gina we had to put Joe down a few years back. due to that labs are known to have bad hips and back ends start to stop working...Have you had your dog checked for tape worm...Joe had some of the same symptoms and lived through the treatments which are tough. I hope that your pup feels better. I know Joe had troubles with the heat and humidify...Joe liked ice cubes and water Mellon...LOL I miss my Joe dog. Say send some of that rain our way we could use it. my flower beds are dry and my grass is too. Happy summer everyone
I forgot to tell ya what I have been doing...LOL foundation plantings around the house, garden beds, painted my son's room, and finished the deck. The 4-H girls are ready for the fair judging on their baskets and My son is ready for his photo judging. Sent my son off to Canada for the theater festival and is due back tonite at about 2:30am or is that tomorrow LOL. No sewing for me but I am still buying fabric and quilting books and patterns off of the web and I am looking forward to the fall but not what comes after...LOL. Oh and drinking lots of Sun tea...um yummy...Hay Judy sorry to see that your job is no more but do enjoy the time off, and did I see that Cheryl has a new baby girl? Congrats and Sue you lucky duck being able to go to a quilt show, I am looking forward to RSVP's this fall...Cheryl you should come over and go to it...Where is Pam is she still in MI? and has anyone seen my friend Crazy Mary around?????I miss her too. Everyone continue to enjoy your summer and I hope that you all had a wonderful 4th...Happy days ahead for everyone...Boop
