Whats going on it quiet around here

The weather most be really good around the country, because not very many of you have posted anything for a couple of days. Where are you? What are you up to? Enjoying a little warmer weather?

I hope all happy things are going on in your life.

Nice here in Indiana...

Sue,

I spent two days now in town with the kids. Going to church tonight......not sure where everyone is.....Booper is doing dinners for church for 2 funerals.....Not sure about the others....but it was nice here today......

Yes it is

Was wondering what happened to all the emails (grin)...tiz slow. I've been reviewing tax return numbers...it's actually rather cool here today but better than yesterday when it was back down into the thirties.

what going on

I finally got a customers quilt done (was supposed to be done over the weekend) but every day this last week I've had visual migraines. To top that off I had an infection in my lower eye lid which the doctor had to drain this morning. But this one is finally done, all but the quilts and blankets of the kids laundry is done, now I can clean up the mess from them and sew for the rest of the day.

work week

I haven't been here too much, because I work every other week  (gotta love those budget cut backs~not!)   anyhow....it is a work week for me, so I don't have as much time to be on.  Next week, I will  have lots more time to check in.    And tonight I am suffering from a migraine......they must be going around.

Busy at the Barn

I have been up at all hours of the night going to the barn to check on a mare that was due to foal on 03/15.  She is holding out on me and I am getting tired.  WE are expecting about 8 foals this year and I'll be at the barn more than in the house.  Weather here is warm and very windy.  Hopefully the windy will be gone soon.  I had a chance to sew with Trinda yesterday.  We are working on a quilt that I think we might publish a pattern for when we get it finished.  It has a very unusual lay out that Trinda came up with.  Good Job Trinda !

Happy to hear all is well

It is nice to hear what everyone is up to. New foals, working, kids and the good old tax returns. Doesn't sound like much quilting is getting done. I have been busy with new grandson and his big sister. Also physicial therapy for my knee so I can get it stronger. My quilting friends want to get together Sat. for a sewing day, so that will be great.

Sunny 72

I went to Home Depot yesterday and bought some baby veggie plants & some flowers for pots on our deck to plant this morning. I'm having a 'Private Quarters' party (bedding, bath, spa) on Saturday. All our window treatments & silhouette blinds are at the cleaners (some time for a party!), Aiko is in heat, Robun's going nuts, and we aren't getting a good night's sleep.

Today, we're leaving the dogs in their kennels & going to Sonoma to explore the town. Tomorrow, I have another interview with another retirement community for a part-time job. We'll see how that goes. No time lately for quilting....

nothing exciting

Not much going on here.  Wednesday was a trip to Sault St. Marie to see the Dr.   My foot is healing pretty good, knee/leg is much better.  At least that's what I thought till Wednesday!  Since I was doing so good, I left my crutches at home (first time out and about without them) and walked from parking lot to Dr.s office, down a long hall to the exam room, back out to the car, then went to Burger King, went in, went to the bathroom, back to the car, and in and out of the house.  And that did me in.  Leg definitely protested so much walking without the crutches.  I was up half the night not able to get comfortable, even with Tylenol PM which usually works fine.  Spent all of yesterday on couch with Vicodin and Motrin.   Slept better last night, and feels much better today.   It's very frustrating, but the Dr. is not concerned.  He wants me to resume normal activities as much as possible this month and after seeing him next month, he'll give me some exercises to do.  I'm going to do a little sewing today and see if I can't get the rest of my blue blocks done.  Weather here has been rainy, cold, grey and gloomy.    Matches my mood.   : (

Blue blocks - coming to you?

Hi Pam, Gosh, sorry to hear your foot is taking so long to heal. That is such a drag, I can't imagine....

Do you want people to send you the blue blocks? And, what address are they to go to? Mine are ready : )

Take care! My best buddy had a broken ankle and it took several months to heal. When she first started walking, it was real painful for her too. It takes time or you get some setbacks.

Layna

Layna,

Send them to me, I offered to help out  when Pam was with her daughter.......so please send them to me. Don't forget your name label on each and your return addy and stamped envelope. You will find my address in the block exchange thread. Can't wait to see them!

Nora

BEEN A BUSY WEEK.....

Been a busy week here in Indiana!  It's spring time, so all the customers who were going to build BIG BIG homes last fall and winter held off until NOW, and EVERYONE wants quotes and/or material NOW!!!!!  Trade show was Tuesday night for all our builders, and I was the head honcho, so it was crazy until then, so glad that's over!!  Yesterday was catch up...and so is today for that matter, but I AM PLAYING GOLF AT 4PM today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It's suppose to be near 60, and a few friends from my Laporte Builders group, play on Thursday nights, and they are ready to start!!!!  So sorry girls, but won't catch up on chat tonight :)  Will be swinging the golf club around, and hoping I haven't forgotten everything i know!!!!!  Then this weekend, I PROMISE to finish by blue blocks up :) while I plan the surprise birthday party i am holding next Friday night for hubby who is turning 60!!!

Ahhh a weekend!

Jim's off for the next 4 days. I have spent the day in heaven! A dear friend of mine, 77 years old, has a Janome1600 quilting machine. It is hooked up to a table. But she could not go any farther. SO I took the day and showed her. She also has two other Janome's that are embroidery machines. Talk about money! OMGOSH! And FABRIC!! I told her when she dies....she wins! LOL........So I get to go back and she is teaching me on her Janome's. I am going to post a picture of a quilt she is making......next week, and Crazy Mary will love it! You all will! Other than that.......relaxing this weekend!

Nice to hear what you are all doing

Pam this foot of your is even beginning to get to me, I feel your pain. Not able to do the things you want. It is just to much, I wish I had some magic wand to make it all better.

Buying plants to put on your patio, what is with that. LOL We still have snow here and there. We also have snow in the forecast for next week. Even if I did want to buy plants they are not in the stores for another month at least. This is the time of year I wish that we lived where it is warmer.

Tomorrow I think I'm getting together with my quilting friends to sew all day. Hopefully today hubby and I will get out on our bikes today, it should be in the 50's. Got to take it when you can.

It's snowing here today

Skies are grey, ground is white.... no spring here!  : (    As for my foot, after a big step backwards, I'm progressing again.  Walking around the house normally (no crutches, no chair on wheels!) and not much pain.  Back to Tylenol instead of Vicodin and Motrin.  Did some sewing yesterday, made 4 more blue blocks (7 done now) and made the other 9-patches.  So today I can finish cutting out more blue and white pieces and sew the last blocks.  Maybe I can get them in the mail tomorrow!!   I also did a little housecleaning this morning!!  Yay!  (never thought I'd be happy to do housework!! LOL)   Jerry has been a big help keeping things picked up but the bathroom and kitchen floor were in dire need of cleaning.    Plans for tomorrow include some sewing, and going out to dinner!

Pam,

Glad to hear you are doing a lot better! HUGS! I would hate to be down like that. Talk about depression! I would be at the bottom of it. I do not like being down. I have to be up and moving and sitting and up and down.......I can't wait to see your blocks.....this is just so much fun!!!

Thanks Nora!

I really hate being laid up like this.  I'm thankful that it's been during the winter months and not spring when I'm hoping to be up and around so I can work in the yard and plant my garden!  It's really frustrating because I'll start to feel better, then get up and around too much and then I'm back on the couch hurting again.  And it is depressing.  I just try to take it one day at a time.  I never knew it took so long for bones (and tendons) to heal!!    Today was a better day, and I'm hoping I have not done too much.  I did some cleaning and then spent most of the afternoon sewing.  My blocks are done!  Yay!  I'm hoping Jerry will take them to the post office tomorrow.  I'll post the pic in the exchange group.

Who is receiving the blue blocks?

Where do I send my 2nd set of blocks? I haven't seen any info on that.

Thanks : )

I found your address, Nora

Okay, I'll send the blocks to you, Nora. Probably Monday as tomorrow is real busy.

It's really nice you're able to do this. And, Pam--I hope your daughter is doing better?!!

Layna,

Thanks for your well wishes for my daughter.  She has good days and bad.  She's been sick with the flu this week and seems to be more depressed.  I worry about her.   Please keep her in your prayers (everyone!)  Thanks!

Pam

Sorry to hear your daughter is not feeling well this week. She is in my prayers and heart.

Medicine for colds and the flu is not good for anyone on anti depressants. It can make them more depressed. Most people do not know this. It almost reverses the antidepressant medicine.  Just a bit of information that hopefully helps. So check with the doctor before using any of these.

Going to rain

I hope hubby and I can get up and bike between the rain that we are going to get. Maybe we should clean out the garage, I hate that job. Or just sew and enjoy the day. Sewing sounds like a great idea. Glad you helped me out in deciding. LOL

What are you up to, and how are things in your life. Not much posting the last few days, so I hope you are off having fun. And not cleaning out garages.

Allergy season is on it's way

It'll be 75 degrees today & the winds are coming in this week so anyone with allergies is going to want to be indoors. It's tick season too - I've found a few on Aiko even though she has Frontline Plus on her. I hate those icky things. I even found one walking along the wall of the 2nd bedroom yesterday. How'd it get there? Aiko doesn't even go in that room.

No more tall grass hopping for those dogs. That's where they're getting them. Aiko's the worst, nice thick fur, they just ride on her & drop off. We wipe the dogs  down but sometimes they show up a couple hours later because they've hidden deeper into the fur. It's really a concern when they're indoor dogs. So far, we haven't had any get stuck on us, but have found them getting settled to attack. Yuk! I sure don't want Lyme disease or RMSF ever.

We're getting drapes & blinds cleaned, a big window replaced, carpets & furniture cleaned in the next week. It'll be so nice to have a 'new' house with everyhing fixed up. THEN, it'll be the garage....

I'm here...

but haven't posted much.  I have been sewing and walking.  I started to gain some weight because I couldn't do much walking due to the weather.  It is starting to turn nice now so I have been taking long walks with my camera.  You would think after as long as I had been in Romania, I would have taken all the photos that I wanted, but I have found a few places that I hadn't photographed.  The trees are in bloom and there are flowers popping up so Spring is here.  The Spring time change is this weekend so we are now in tune with the States.  WE have another month here then I will be home for a short time, then back here.

I am so thankful for the internet so I can be part of the group no matter where I am.  I do enjoy the 'chatter' about quilting and every day things.

wishing for spring : (

It's nice to hear about spring coming... for most of you anyway.  Up here, in the U.P. spring is still a long ways off.  We're getting a blizzard right now.  Snow is coming down hard and starting to pile up.  We're supposed to get 8 inches today.  Some of our snow had melted a little, we could see some grass here and there, although the snow was still piled high wherever it had been plowed or blown onto curbs, etc.  But now, everything is white again and it looks like any January day!   I'm wondering when spring comes up here?????

Looks like winter here too.....

Hubby and I headed out to the community breakfast this morning for our local volunteer fire department, then to the outlet mall over in Michigan City, and it was BLIZZARD Conditions!  Yes, the ground was and is actually covered in snow!!   And yes, idiot drivers slip sliding all over, just like they had never driven in it!!  It's so hard to believe after a wonderful week of warm weather, playing golf, and taking great walks with Gizmo!!  So....Judy, Sue, Madman....get ready, becuase this will probably hit you next!!  And I guarantee you, IT"S NOT FUN!!

windy!

and blowing snow, but none stuck. That's good! But the wind is really bad here. I have stayed in and kept warm, hot tea and lots of sewing. Finished all my pink squares. And are posted. Ready for bed, but to early!

Cheryl sent the snow here

We got the snow here for a little while. High winds and big snow flakes. Thanks for sending it. LOL. Tomorrow it is going to be in the 50's again. Go figure. Hopefully we can get out on our bikes again.

Nora, my blocks are in the mail!

I sent 10 'blue' blocks today to you. I'm not sure how many we're supposed to do this time around, so, I sent them all : )

When I get around to downloading the photo, I'll post what they look like. I made all of them with the same 5 fabrics.

GREAT!

Can't wait to get them, I was just getting ready to email you to see if you were going to mail them out. Thanks for letting me know....Nora

A great day

Today, (Saturday) 2 of my quilting friends got together to sew for the day. What a great day, sewing, good food and bad weather. (It is snowing and very cloudy with lots of wind). I got several blocks done on a quilt that will be for our bed. I wanted to have a second one, so I can change it out once in awhile. One of the girls hubby cooked hamburgers outside and they were yummy.

Wanted to check up on you guys, I have not been able to get on for a few days. I missed you all. I had quilt club on Thursday, then we went for a bike ride. We went to far on our bikes, so I really was hurting, so did not do much on Friday. Not even getting on the internet. I wanted to feel better for my sewing day that was today, so I just took it easy. This weather change does not help things at all. Arthritis is not happy with when it is warm then cold, then warm again. Hopefully in a few weeks things will be better. Our grass is starting to get green, and there are buds on some of the bushes and trees. Hopefully if we get some warm weather then they will pop open. Then it will look like Spring has come. Hooray.
