quilt blocks.jpg

Here are the blocks so far from the Farmer's Wife quilt book.  We meet once a month, and do four blocks in class, (or finish them at home if we don't finish in class) and then we get bonus block homework.  All the bright green and blue labels are the names of the blocks, it will make it easier when I go to place them, to have the names.  I think the book has over 100 blocks.   We are only half way through the class.  I am trying to do shades of blue and white fabric.  The overall theme of the fabric is stars, although some of the fabrics are just a marbled color.    The finished quilt will have sashing and borders....what do color do you guys suggest???

As I sit here and I feel like I am melting from our 90 degree weather, and no air conditioning.  I thought I would post the photos of the quilt in progress at my house.   This is a quitl from a book called More Elm Creek Quilts.  The title of the Quilt is Chrismas Greetings.  It is made up of 12 different blocks and then the pictoral center.

Fourth Exchange blocks

Done. As you can see, I made identical blocks which resulted in an interesting effect. Looking at this pattern, you can create so many different effects depending on your color selection...I'm planning to put the four blocks I keep on each of the corners so that they blend with everyone else's blocks and the identical effect is lost.

The middle row of each block was a struggle but the end results of this pattern are worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's blocks.

A week or so ago I made this new kaleidoscope block. I wish you could see it in person, it looks better than the picture. I would suggest, stepping away from the screen and you can see the effect better. This is all pieced. I love doing these. If you like you can go to my profile and see the others I have made.

These pictures represent the fouth quilt block exchange.   I have done 12 blocks so far.   I am going to make this quilt for my husband for Christmas.  I am going to need lots more after the exchange, so I have done/and will do more.    Hubby is 6'6"  so it needs to be big enough for him to cover up on those cold winter afternoons.
