About You:

I am the Operations Manager of S & D Stitches, Inc. which builds CompuQuilter Computerized System, StitchRite and Royal Stitch Regulators for Longarm Quilting Machines. We can add our system to Gammill, APQS, Nolting, A1, and Kenquilt Longarm machines. Our facility is the only place that I know about that has those 5 brands in one location. I have been doing the technical support and customer service for CompuQuilter for about 5 years. Before that, I built them including the electronics for StitchRite Stitch Regulator.

Occassionally, I have time to quilt, but my primary role is managing the company and customer service. I attend Trade Shows (about 6 per year), Teach classes, and install systems from time to time. I have been around quilter and quilting my whole life. I remember hanging my grandmothers quilt frame from the ceiling when I was 10 and tripping on it, walking around it, bumping into it and such until I was about 15. So, I'm not exactly new to quilting, not exactly a shop owner, and don't consider myself to be an experienced quilter.

Other Interests:

I am first and foremost a father of two teenage boys and God-father to 3 teenage girls. I was a cub scout leader for several years. I worked for The Boys and Girls Club for a couple of years. I would like to spend much more time at the lake or ocean than I do now. I love to go boating, fishing, camping, hiking and skydiving. None of which I have time to do often enough. I play guitar, bass guitar, piano, tuba, trumpet, french horn, and am learing drums. I compose music and lyrics occassionally.

I'm a Sci-Fi nut and computer geek. I started programming computers at the age of 10 (there wasn't much else to do). It has grown into a passion much like music. I hold several certifications already and am working on more. They cover everything from building the hardware, networking and now website design and management (still working on those certs.)

Hi Butch,

Welcome to the web site.

There is always something going on here. Members posting new projects all the time. Learning from each other, are second block exchange that you could join in on. Of course the lessons for the star quilt which is always an on going event. Some people are talking about a retreat. Venting, when we have problems with quilting and life. We are also making blocks to be put together to raise money for cancer.

Mike (admin, also my son) is working on adding a chat room here. There will always be new additions to the site.

We have a wonderful time, and hope that you feel like you can add to the group.
