hi Gina, the count is 8, but others are sending 10 blocks to get two extra from someone else, so you can either send 8 and get 8 back or send 10 and get 10 back (2 will be duplicates from someone).  Anxious to see them!

Hi Pam,I sent my blocks to you yesterday. I hope they are right. I am trying to get the picture up of them for all to see. Thank you.Gina

 Hi Gina!

I think the count is 8, maybe 9 if Sue is participating.  I need to ask her. I didn't think she was, but someone said they thought she was in, so I need to talk to her to find out for sure.  I have been out of town for a few days and just got home tonight, so I'll see if I can find out tomorrow.  However, the swap is still open till the end of the month, so you might want to hang on to your blocks for another week, just to make sure you have a correct count.  Talk to you soon!!

Hi Gina and welcome to AOQ!  This is a great site and there's a wonderful group of women here (and one guy, our Administrator Mike!).   We have a lot of fun and the block exchanges are fun too!   On the home page, you'll see on the left side, under " Groups"  a place to join the 3rd block exchange.   In those posts, you can see the blocks that we've done so far.  I posted one of my blocks and at least one other person has posted one of their green blocks.  Here's the info for the block.  The block is called "Comforts of Home" and this is the link to the pattern.   www.scrapquilts.com/0202_bom.html    It is a 12 1/2 " block (which will be 12" finished) and the center 9-patch is scrappy with any colors.  The triangles around the 9-patch that kinda form a square are to be in white on white.  You can use the same white on white fabric or use different whites, it's up to you.  The smaller triangles will be scrappy greens.  Again, you can use one green for all the triangles or you can use scrappy greens.  My blocks are all scrappy, but others have used the same green fabric throughout the block.  And then finally, the corner squares are to be scrappy, any color you choose.   I'll add your name to the list of participants and let everyone know to make an extra block.  We've just started, so that won't be a problem at all.   There were 10 of us for the first block exchange, but the numbers have gone down because a couple of members were too busy to participate in this one, so I'm glad you want to join in!  Be sure and check out the posts and jump right in so everyone can get to know you!    The blocks are due (to me) by the end of May, and my  address is on the group postings as well as in my profile.  Welcome aboard!!

Pam

Thank you Pam!! I appreciate the warm "WELCOME" you have given me to your group. It was truly a breath of fresh air. The group has a lot of very talented people. I am very excited to share my work with all of you. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and friendships through quilting. Sue and I chatted yesterday for a few minutes and she answered a few of the questions I had. Thank you Sue. I will try to get a picture of me up, so you will see who you are chatting with. Thank you again for answering my questions.

Of course the lessons for the star quilt which is always an on going event. Some people are talking about a retreat. Venting, when we have problems with quilting and life. We are also making blocks to be put together to raise money for cancer.

Mike (admin, also my son) is working on adding a chat room here. There will always be new additions to the site.

We have a wonderful time, and hope that you feel like you can add to the group. If you have any questions, all of us are here to help. At first you may not understand how everything works. You can also you contact us, but sometimes it maybe just a easy to ask all of us on any of the simple questions. We are here to help you enjoy this site as much as we can.

Take care,

Sue

Hi Sue,
I will try to chat with you again. Thank you for accepting me to your group. How many blocks do you make? Where do they get sent? When do you need to send them. I will have Robert (my son) the computer wiz help me to post a picture of me. It's nice to see who you are talking too. Living in New Jersey, the closet quilt shop is an hour or better away from us. We have a Joann's fabric store here. The material is always basic, not like a real shop. I hope we can get the chance to talk. I look forward to doing the blocks. Also, let me know about the cancer blocks, would like to help.
Happy Quilting,
Gina

block exchange for the summer

in

I have not been on the site much this summer.  My back has been acting up and when it was'nt I was doing things with my family. I woke up early the other morning because I could not sleep,so i figured i would finish up the blocks for the mail.  I had the back door open for the fresh air.I have 4 cats, 2 sisters 14 years old and 2 brothers, 2 years old.  They like to go outside.  So I hear cat ruckus out back, i see the the boys and a big orange cat. So i call the boys, pss, pss. The orange cat rubs up against me, so thinking.

This is a UFO!  Well, my UFO... I guess!  In September 2007 my neighbor asked me if I wanted to take quilting classes in Snowhill  MAryland. SHe has a house in Va. and we could stay there, I was excited to go since I had nevered quilted before. My neighbor said she would help me since she had been quilting for  7 years or so,   So I buy the book, read it several times, picked the fabric sat , cut and  labeled all material for the different blocks.

This quilt is made of different size friendship stars.  Different purples with white kona surrounding it.  The white is so all the kids at the party can sign their names.  A quilt that the girls will enojy for years to come.  I am actually pround of myself.  It really came out nicely.  I do see my flaws, but no one else will until they are a quilter.
