I love the quilt's you posted!  Do you have anymore?

Happy Birthday Skippy! Wow I bet you saw some beautiful fabrics in India and architecture..I also would believe that The Ukraine would have some nice fabric as well. God bless you and your family for what you do as missionaries.  And God's Blessings to you on your Birthday!!!  Booper

I haven't been on-site for some time, but I do want to say thank you for the birthday greetings. Right now my husband and I are traveling in Indiana and Ohio and I brought along some hand-piecing to do in the car. I have 52 grandmother's flower garden blocks that I hand-pieced in India and I'm putting them together with white. It looks pretty good, even if I do say so myself! But cutting out 900+ white octogons is slow business, so I do about 100 at a time. I might get this all done in a couple of years! Thanks again.

I have to add a comment about "skippy." My husband's childhood nickname was Skip, Skipper, or Skippy. So, hey, Skippy fits the bill.

Sue

Happy Birthday, I hope you have a wonderful day.

Sue

Thanks for saying happy birthday. I appreciate it. I'm not on-site a lot, but always enjoying seeing what others have done.

Welcome

What a story, 32 years in India. You must have some great stories, I really hope you will share some of them with us. Your quilts must be really something, I would love to see them. How long will you be in Ukraine? i look forward to getting to know you better.

I should answer you on this. We will be in Ukraine about three years. We are getting close to retirement, so don't have a long time left before we settle down for good. We are missionaries with World Gospel Mission, headquartered in Marion, Indiana. My quilts are okay, but everytime I go to a quilt show I realize how amateurish they appear next to some of these masterpieces. But I enjoy making them and my family appreciates them. My daughter and my sister are both quilters too.

Pineapple wallhanging

I started quilting in 1998 and of course didn't want something simple and easy to begin with.  (I can't help it, I'm a first-born.)  However, I did have a lot of sewing experience.  I liked the idea of paper-piecing and bought a couple of books and chose the pineapple quilt to begin with.  The hardest part was learning to cut my fabric pieces big enough to cover the space and still have enough for decent seams.  I persevered and finished the quilt.  It's hanging in my house now although it's not my favorite.  I continued to paper-piece for quite a while, a

Flowers and Plaid

I made this with a fabric bundle I bought several years ago from Connecting Threads.  I added a couple of fabrics to it to have enough.  The original pattern had hollyhocks up the center, with long thin stalks.  I wasn't sure I could handle that with the fabrics and skills that I have, so I changed it by making three sizes of yo-yos, gluing them and the leaves on the fabric and then gluing buttons in the center of them.  The fabric glue worked great, I was happy with the outcome.  I liked the layout of the blocks because it wasn't the usual type of quilt.

High Plains Summer

I made this quilt for my daughter-in-law's mother in Dalhart, Texas.  She is a lovely lady who always gives bear-hugs to anyone within sight!  This past Christmas she gave me an art quilt that she bought for me in an auction last year.  My quilt doesn't even approach the beauty and technical work on that art quilt.  I must upload it sometime so everyone can see it.  Anyway, I wanted to do something in return and had an bundle of cowboy-related fabrics that I bought in a quilt shop in Virginia last year.  So here it is, the result of using that bundle with the a
